Home Surveillance Live from Your Mobile Phone

The rise of terrorism and local crime rates in many areas around the globe further heightened the need for homeowners to buy home security devices.

Now there is a way to monitor your home via mobile phones or PDA with HomeCamera.

The new HomeCamera service uses a webcam to let you see just what's going on at home from wherever you are in the world. Simply by logging on to the site from any web-enabled PC or mobile phone, you can use your webcam to take a "live" picture of what's happening at home at that exact moment. Users can also access pre-recorded images and video clips.

Your mobile phone or PDA must be equipped with an Internet browser. The best part - it's FREE until the commercial launch this October!

New Hard Drive with 4000 GB (4 Terabytes) storage capacity

Hitachi develops new hard drive head technology that will increase storage capacity to 4TB by 2011

Hitachi recently announced that it has achieved a breakthrough in hard drive read-head design.

This breakthrough has produced read-heads in the 30-50 nanometer range, approximately 2,000 times smaller than the width of an average human hair. This new technology is called current perpendicular-to-the-plane giant magnetoresistive heads.

Giant magnetoresistance principles won scientists Albert Fert and Peter Grunberg the 2007 Nobel Prize for Physics.

These new heads will allow Hitachi to expand storage capacity in standard 3.5-inch desktop hard drives to 4TB and extend 2.5-inch laptop hard drives to 1TB of capacity. Hitachi says that it plans to integrate these new heads into hard drives starting in 2009 and that the technology will reach maturity in 2011.

The first products to reach market in 2009 will use recording heads of 50nm and products with recording heads of 30nm will hit market in 2011. Hitachi representatives believe the new heads will allow for storage densities of up to 500GB per square inch. The current highest capacity drives from Hitachi can only pack in 200GB per square inch.

Another benefit of the significantly smaller heads is that the hard drives will product less noise. Test products using 50nm heads produced 40dB of sound while the 30nm heads produced 30dB. Large capacity hard drives that produce less noise will be a welcome addition to digital video recorders.

Power a Battery with Urine

Urine Powered Battery

Did your gadget just run out of juice and there isn’t a shop around for miles ? Not a problem if you have this "rechargeable" NoPoPo (No Pollution Power) battery. Just pee into it. "Weird"

When you think rechargeable batteries, the word urine doesn't spring to mind, and why should it? Batteries and urine aren't two things closely associated with each other - unless you're really into peeing on power sources, in which case you probably smell like the entrance of a tube station and have unsanitary gadgetry.

It doesn't really sound practical for everyday use, does it? But as vile as the Nopopo (which stands for no pollution power) batteries sound, you don't just point and shoot/aim and go all over the batteries to recharge them. Instead, there is a pipette. Though, how you pee into it without getting it all over your hands, shoes and the floor is a mystery.

But if you're not the peeing into pipettes type, you can also use beer, saliva, apple juice or coco-cola.

The batteries won't be as powerful as your average alkaline AA battery, but when you think about saving the environment, this is sounds about right.

Laptop Batteries Lasting much longer

A laptop battery that can last for 30 years without single charge, "Amazing" isn't it. Development of this amazing and unique Technology is being funded by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory. This amazing battery runs on betavoltaic power cells which are constructed from semiconductors and use radioisotopes as the energy source. As the radioactive material decays it emits beta particles that transform into electric power capable of fueling an electrical device like a laptop for years. laptop users now can use their batteries for as long as they wont not replacement needed.

The word Nuclear may raise some questions but these betavoltaic batteries cant be named as Nuclear ones, they neither use fission/fusion or chemical processes to produce energy and so do not produce any radioactive or hazardous waste.

Betavoltaics Batteries generate power when an electron strikes a particular interface between two layers of material. The Process uses beta electron emissions that occur when a neutron decays into a proton which causes a forward bias in the semiconductor. This makes the betavoltaic cell a forward bias diode of sorts, similar in some respects to a photovoltaic (solar) cell. Electrons scatter out of their normal orbits in the semiconductor and into the circuit creating a usable electric current. All this Technology Talks is difficult to understand so in simple words these batteries are safe for laptop users

These batteries can be quite small and thin, a porous silicon material is used to collect the hydrogen isotope tritium which is generated in the process. The reaction is non-thermal which means laptops and other small devices like mobile phones will run much cooler than with traditional lithium-ion power batteries. The reason the battery lasts so long is that neutron beta-decay into protons is the world’s most concentrated source of electricity, truly demonstrating Einstein’s theory E=MC2.

Another advantage of these batteries are that if they eventually run out of power they are totally inert and non-toxic, so environmentalists need not fear these high tech scientific wonder batteries. If further research produce good results we might find these batteries in two to three years

Destory your hard disks if you want to stay safe

If you're planning on getting rid of an old computer, make sure you remove the hard drive first and smash it up with a hammer, a British consumer group advised on Thursday.

A Computing magazine said that the only way to make sure fraudsters could not steal personal details from an old computer hard drive was to utterly destroy it. Simply deleting files or wiping the drive is not sufficient.

The magazine company said it had bought eight second-hand drives from Internet auction site eBay and recovered 22,000 "deleted" files, including some information that could be confidential.

Criminals, who it said trawled council waste sites and Internet sites like eBay, would be able use specialist software to retrieve the information which could then be used to commit identity theft.

"PCs contain more valuable personal information than ever as people increasingly shop online, use social networking sites and take digital photos," said Sarah Kidner, Editor of Computing magazine.

"Even if you delete your files, you'd be surprised how easy it is to recover your personal data. It sounds extreme, but the only way to be 100 percent safe is to smash your hard drive into smithereens. "

So before disposing of your PCs please make sure you remove your hard disk and destroy it

14 strange and scary military technologies

Liquid armour, sonic bandages, rail guns and more
Mankind has been trying to hurt his fellow man since the dawn of time, and technology makes the job much easier.

Modern technology means 'increased lethality' and scarier weapons - but it can also keep soldiers out of harm's way, patch them up when they're hurt and one day, even erase traumatic memories.

These fourteen technologies may sound like the stuff of sci-fi, but they're rapidly becoming reality.

1. Exoskeletons
Wouldn't it be great if you could give ordinary soldiers robot strength and stamina? Exoskeletons do just that, and as this video shows, they're not very far away. They're also capable of working without a person inside them. Everybody panic!

2. Smart uniforms
We can't make soldiers invisible just yet, but smart fabrics can make them much harder to see - and almost invisible to night vision goggles, heat sensors and radar kit.

3. Liquid armour
Armour is handy, but it's heavy and inflexible - so scientists have developed liquid armour, which is designed to offer the best of both worlds. There are two kinds of liquid armour: Shear Thickening Fluid (STF), which hardens on impact, and Magnetorheological (MR) fluid, which is essentially iron particles suspended in liquid. Add a magnetic field and MR fluid becomes solid in fractions of a second. Of the two, STF liquid armour is the current favourite: MR fluid armour is still a good few years away.

4. Bendy guns
One potentially fatal problem with the good old-fashioned gun is that you need to see what you're shooting at - so when you pop your head round a corner, the enemy might just pop it off your shoulders. Enter Cornershot, an Israeli system designed for SWAT teams and special forces. It's a simple enough idea: a gun that can be bent at right angles, with a sight that follows the barrel so the operator can see what he or she is shooting at.

5. Sonic bandages
One of the biggest preventable causes of battlefield deaths is from blood loss, so the Deep Bleeder Acoustic Coagulation (DBAC) programme is working on 'sonic bandages' that cauterise wounds with a focused blast of ultrasonic energy.

6. Electronic guns
Metal Storm combines electronic ignition and stacked projectiles to devastating effect - or "increased lethality", as the brochure puts it. Its light weight means that Metal Storm guns tend to have lots and lots of barrels firing simultaneously. It makes a machine gun look like a pea shooter.

7. Rail guns
Rail guns use magnetic fields to blast projectiles at incredible speeds: the US Navy has tested one that fires its load at seven times the speed of sound.

8. Robot bombers
Earlier this week, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) fired three Hellfire missiles at a house on the Afghan border, killing fugitive Rashid Rauf. That's just a taste of what's on the horizon, because today's UAVs are titchy compared to projects such as Taranis, which includes building full-size, unmanned fighter jets.

9. Brain erasers
For many soldiers, the trauma of war doesn't end when the fighting does - and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can make their civilian lives a misery. A Men In Black-style brain eraser would be a big help, so it's no surprise that the military is funding research into whether such devices are possible. Scientist have already found a way to erase mice's memories, so such tech could well be possible.
10. See-through planes
Clearly inspired by Wonder Woman, the MoD wants pilots to be able to see right through their aircraft. Sadly that doesn't mean making planes out of glass with scantily clad lovelies flying them; it means a heads-up display inside the pilot's helmet that projects images from outside, enabling the pilot to 'see' through the metal. The helmets are currently in development for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

11. Invisible tanks
As the old joke almost put it: What's green and invisible? That tank. Last year, the MoD revealed that it was testing invisibility systems for tanks and even troops. It's a simple enough idea - cameras film the tank's surroundings and then project it onto the tank - but it'll be a few years before it's battlefield ready. A proper invisibility cloak is probably decades away.

12. Pain beams
Want a non-lethal but exceptionally painful energy weapon? Then get thee to Raytheon, whose Silent Guardian uses a focused beam of microwave energy to heat up the skin and force enemies to take cover. As Ars Technica notes, rather brilliantly, this is one area where a tinfoil hat really could defend you.

13. HAARP
Depending on whom you believe, the High-frequency Active Auroral Research Programme is either a system for better global communications, a space weapon for battling UFOs, an earthquake creator or a mind control ray. The first explanation comes from military men who can't see a piece of cheese without wondering how to kill people with it; the others from the tinfoil hat brigade and Muse's Matt Bellamy. Who to trust?

14. Terminators
We've got exoskeletons. We've got guns. So why not go the next step into Terminator territory and develop robot brains that would enable the exoskeletons to chase us around with their guns? That's exactly what DARPA's SyNAPSE (Systems of Neuromorphic Adaptive Plastic Scalable Electronics) electronic brain programme seems designed to do. SyNAPSE? SKYNET, more like. Everybody panic! Again!

Secure Your Vista PC in 10 Easy Steps

While Windows Vista may be Microsoft's most secure operating system ever, it's far from completely secure. In its fresh-from-the-box configuration, Vista still leaves a chance for your personal data to leak out to the Web through Windows Firewall, or for some nefarious bot to tweak your browser settings without your knowing. But by making a few judicious changes using the security tools within Windows Vista--and in some cases by adding a few pieces of free software--you can lock down your operating system like a pro.

Use Windows Security Center as a Starting Point

For a quick overview of your security settings, the Windows Security Center is where you'll find the status of your system firewall, auto update, malware protection, and other security settings. Click Start, Control Panel, Security Center, or you can simply click the shield icon in the task tray. If you see any red or yellow, you are not fully protected. For example, if you have not yet installed an antivirus product on your machine, or if your current antivirus product is out-of-date, the Malware section of the Security Center should be yellow. Windows does not offer a built-in antivirus utility, so you'll want to install your own. For free antivirus, I recommend AVG Anti-Virus 8.

Use Windows Defender as a Diagnostic Tool

The Malware section also covers antispyware protection, and for that Windows Vista includes Windows Defender. The antispyware protection in your antivirus program usually trumps the protection Microsoft provides, but there are several good reasons to keep Windows Defender enabled. One is that every antispyware program uses a different definition of what is and what is not spyware, so redundant protection can actually offer some benefit.

Another reason to keep Windows Defender enabled: diagnostics. Click Tools, and choose Software Explorer from the resulting pane. You can display lists of applications from several categories such as Currently Running Programs, Network Connected Programs, and Winsock Service Providers, but Startup Programs is perhaps the most useful. Click on any name in the left window, and full details will appear in the right pane. By highlighting, you can remove, disable, or enable any of the programs listed.

Disable the Start Up menu

Windows Vista keeps track of all the documents and programs you launch in the Start Up menu. This can be convenient for some users, but it can also compromise your privacy if you share a computer within an office or household. Fortunately Windows Vista provides an easy way to tweak this setting. To protect your privacy, follow these steps:

Right click on the taskbar and select Properties.
Click on the Start Menu tab.
Uncheck Store and display a list of recently opened files.
Uncheck Store and display a list of recently opened programs.
Click OK.

Get Two-Way Firewall Protection

No desktop should be without a personal firewall, but even if the Security Center says you're protected, you may not be. The Windows Firewall within Vista blocks all incoming traffic that might be malicious or suspicious--and that's good. But outbound protection is not enabled by default. That's a dangerous situation if some new malicious software finds its way onto your PC. Microsoft did include the tools for Windows Vista to have a true two-way firewall, but finding the setting is a little complicated. (Hint: Don't go looking the Windows Firewall settings dialog box.)

To get two-way protection in Windows Vista, click on the Start button; in the search space, type wf.msc and press Enter. Click on the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security icon. This management interface displays the inbound and outbound rules. Click on Windows Firewalls Properties. You should now see a dialog box with several tabs. For each profile--Domain, Private, and Public--change the setting to Block, and then click OK.

Even if you do this tweak, I recommend adding a more robust third-party firewall. I suggest either Comodo Firewall Pro or ZoneAlarm, both of which are free and fare very well in independent firewall testing.

Lock Out Unwanted Guests

If you share your computer with others (and even if you don't), Windows Vista includes a neat way to keep unwanted guests from guessing your system administrator password. When you set up users and declare one user as administrator (with full privileges), Windows Vista allows outsiders unlimited guesses at the password you chose. Here's how to limit the guesses.

Click Start, type Local Security Policy.
Click Account Lockout Policy.
Choose Account Lockout Threshold.
At the prompt, enter the number of invalid log-ins you'll accept (say, 3).
Click OK and close.

Now Audit Your Attackers

With the Account Lockout policy in place, you can now enable auditing to see any account attacks. To turn on auditing for failed log-on events, do the following:

Click the Start button, type secpol.msc, and click the secpol icon.
Click on Local Policies and then Audit Policy.
Right-click on Audit account logon events policy and select Properties.
Check the Failure box and click OK.
Right-click on Audit logon events policy and select Properties.
Check the Failure box and click OK.
Close the Local Security Policy window.
You can then use the Event Viewer (by running eventvwr.msc) to view the logs under Windows Logs and Security.

Secure Your Internet Explorer Settings

The Windows Security Center will also report whether your Internet Explorer 7 (or IE 8) security settings are at their recommended levels. If the screen shows this section as red, you can adjust the settings within the browser itself.

Within Internet Explorer, click Tools in the menu bar.
From the drop-down menu, click Internet Options.
Choose the Security tab.
Within the Security tab, click Custom Level.
Here you'll see a window with all the security options for the browser. If any are below the recommended level (if, say, some kind of malware reconfigured your browser settings), these options will be highlighted in red. To change an individual setting, click the appropriate radio button. To reset them all, use the button near the bottom of the tab. You can also change the overall security setting for Internet Explorer from the default Medium-High setting to the recommended High or Medium, if you wish. Click OK to save and close.

Use OpenDNS

Domain Name System (DNS) servers act as a phone book. When you type "pcworld.com" in the address bar, for instance, Internet Explorer sends that common-name request to your Internet service provider's DNS servers to be converted into a series of numbers, or an IP address. Lately, DNS servers have come under attack, with criminals seeking to redirect common DNS preferences to servers that their interests control. One way to stop such abuse is to use OpenDNS.

Go to Start, Control Panel, Network and Internet, and then click Network and Sharing Center. Under the tasks listed on the left, click Manage Network Connections. In the Manage Network Connections window, do the following.

Right-click on the icon representing your network card.
Click Properties.
Click Internet Protocol Version 4.
Click the Properties button.
Select the Use the following DNS server addresses radio button.
Type in a primary address of 208.67.222.222.
Type in a secondary address of 208.67.220.220.
Click OK.

Live With User Account Control

One area where some people might want to see the Windows Security Center turn red is User Account Control (UAC), perhaps the most controversial security feature within Windows Vista. Designed to keep rogue remote software from automatically installing (among other things), UAC has a tendency to thwart legitimate software installations by interrupting the process several times with useless messages. In Windows 7 you'll be able to set UAC to the level you want. Until then, you do have some options.

One is to disable UAC. I would caution against that, since UAC is meant to warn you of potential danger. Instead, install TweakUAC, a free utility that offers the ability to turn UAC on or off as well as an intermediate "quiet" mode that keeps UAC on but suppresses administration elevation prompts. With TweakUAC in quiet mode, UAC will appear to be off to those running as administrator accounts, while people with standard user accounts will still be prompted.

Check Your Work

Now that you've tweaked Windows Vista, you can keep tabs on your system's security with the System Health Report. This diagnostic tool takes input from the Performance and Reliability Monitor and turns it into an information-packed report that can spotlight potential security problems.

Open Control Panel.
Click System.
In the Tasks list, click Performance (near the bottom).
In the resulting Tasks list, click Advanced tools (near the top).
Click the last item on the resulting list: Generate a system health report.
The report will list any missing drivers that might be causing error codes, tell you whether your antivirus protection is installed, and declare whether UAC is turned on. You may want to run this report once a month just to make sure everything's still good.

Increase Battery Life of your Laptop

The actual life of a laptop battery will vary with computer usage habits. In a survey by chipmaker Intel, 57% of laptop users said they wished their batteries lasted longer. And that is wishful thinking, according to Isidor Buchmann, president and founder of Cadex Electronics in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. He suggests that although batteries become about 10% more efficient every year, the average PC's power needs also increase by about the same amount. Result: The average battery life is still painfully short (just two to three hours for most laptop models).

The more you use physical devices - which require more electricity to operate - the more of the battery's power you can expect to consume. The devices that create a larger power drain are the hard drive, the floppy drive and the CD-ROM.

Here are some tips to extend the life of your laptop battery:

1. Power down the display

Lowering the brightness may give you as much as an extra hour of runtime. And to increase even more the lifetime of your battery lower the screen resolution and color depth. This will decrease the workload on the GPU, thus extending the battery runtime.

To change this settings follow the steps below:
a. Open the Windows Start menu and click the Control Panel
b. Open the Display menu
c. In the new window click the Appearance tab. Under the Advanced button you can disable extra features like ClearType fonts and fade effects which will cut down on the CPU’s power consumption
d. Now go to the Settings tab
e. Here adjust the color depth to 16 bit. This is more than enough in office and internet applications.

2. Turn off unused devices

Many new notebooks provide a hard-wired On/Off switch for the Wi-Fi radio for this reason.
To save even more power go to the Control Panel, select System-->Hardware-->Device Manager, and disable the following items: Ethernet adapter, infrared transceiver, and Bluetooth radio . You should do this beacause having Bluetooth enabled and not using it actually consumes quite a bit of power.

3. Decrease hard drive activity

Defragmenting your hard drive regularly will decrease the frecuency with which your hard disk has to spin, therefore the battery will last longer. This is due to the fact that defragmentation optimizes the placement of the data on the drive and when a program makes a request for certain data it can be found more quickly.

Another way to decrease hard drive activity is to set your paging file to a fix value, and this value should be around 1.5 times the amount the RAM you have installed on your computer.

To set the paging file go to the Control Panel and click through System -> Advanced -> Performance Settings -> Advanced -> Virtual Memory Change.

4. Disable startup items

Startup items are programs that load into memory every time Windows boots up and cause other open applications to spill over virtual memory and adds to the CPU load, shortening battery runtime.

5. Condition the battery

Battery memory is where the battery becomes conditioned to run for less time than it is designed to run. Say for example, you run your computer on battery for an hour and then you plug it back in to let it recharge. The battery will become conditioned to run only an hour before it runs out of juice.

To correct Battery Memory problems, you must completely drain the battery and recharge it. To completely drain your battery, you must go into your Windows Control Panel and select Power. Then you must turn Power Management Off. Next, you must go into your BIOS and make sure that if there is a power management setting there, that you turn it off as well. In most cases, once you are inside the BIOS, you will highlight Power Management and press Enter. Then locate the item Hibernation at Critical Battery, and by using the Minus sign, change the setting to Off. Once these steps have been completed, then use your Escape key to return to the top level menu, and select Save Settings and Exit.

Once you have completed turning off the power management in both the BIOS and the Operating System, you must unplug the computer, turn the computer on and let it run until it completely runs out of electricity. Then you should charge the battery for 12 hours. At the end of the charging cycle, then run the computer again until the battery is dead, and then charge the battery for 12 more hours. You should repeat this process four times, before returning the computer to its original power management settings.

A great little tip to keep in mind is that if you do keep your laptop plugged in for an extensive period of time REMOVE the battery. Let it discharge and give it a break. This will extend your battery life quite a bit.

Another way to condition your battery is to keep it cool. It's best to use (and especially charge) your batteries at room temperatures. Extreme conditions can drain your battery quickly.

Want to replace your Desktop with a Laptop ?

Desktop replacements are one of the largest growing segments in the portable market. These system pack in the features and functions that make them competitive with full sized computers. There are even a lot of specialized multimedia and gaming models. Based on my research and experience, here are the top desktop replacement laptops.

1. Dell XPS M1730

For those looking for a high performance system for gaming, Dell's XPS offers the XPS M1730 laptop. The system is highly customizable to fit to a wide variety of budgets but does offer some superb 3D graphics performance thanks to its ability to run a mobile SLI setup with NVIDIA GeForce mobile graphics processors. They even offer the Core 2 Extreme mobile processor for some of the best processing power available. Of course, the top of the line performance will cost a lot. Dell even makes a specially skinned version for those who play World of Warcraft.

2. Gateway P-173XL FX

If gaming is one of your primary reasons for getting a desktop replacement but you don't want to spend the huge sums for a gaming oriented laptop configuration, check out Gateway's FX series of laptops. The 17-inch P-173XL FX offers a very well balanced system configuration with a very strong GeForce 8800M GTS graphics processor that is even capable of playing 3D games up to the 17-inch screens 1920x1200 resolution. The RAID drive setup helps boost performance and storage space and the wide variety of peripheral connectors lets you hook up just about anything. The only real drawbacks to it are its fairly large size and battery pack that extends out from the case.

3. HP Pavilion dv9830us

If multimedia and high definition video are what draws you to a desktop replacement, HP offers some extremely strong values. The Pavilion dv9830us has a very attractive price and includes features such as a Blu-ray reader and DVD burner combo drive and digital/analog HDTV tuner card that let it play a wide variety of HD media. One big downside to the system though is the 17-inch LCD is limited to a 1440x900 resolution preventing it from being used for 1080p video. It is still possible to do it with an external monitor via the HDMI connector. The price might also be so low as it uses an older Core 2 Duo T5550 mobile processor.

4. Apple MacBook Pro 17-inch

The MacBook Pro is probably one of the more expensive desktop replacement laptops on the market, but it is also the most portable. The svelte aluminum clad laptop is just one inch thick with a very light 6.8 pounds. Performance is also quite strong thanks to the Core 2 Duo T9300 processor. With the Mac OS X 10.5 operating system, it is also possible to run the Windows operating system thanks to the new Boot Camp feature. This makes the system extremely flexible in what it can run. The price just makes it something that many people might reconsider.

5. Lenovo IdeaPad Y710

Prior to the purchase by Lenovo, IBM was not a company that built any laptops with screens larger than 15-inches. The IdeaPad Y710 was a major step away from that by producing the first 17-inch desktop replacement laptop. The system integrates well loved features such as the ThinkPads great keyboard design and matched it with features consumers would like. The system ranges for very affordable budget systems to high end PC gaming platforms. Whether you need an affordable system, strong general performance or gaming, Lenovo has an IdeaPad Y710 that can match those needs.

Now SPY on people without their knowledge using this motion detecting camera

Are you a nature lover or wish to spy on others without their knowledge? Then the Prowler Stealth Cam may be the ideal piece of equipment. It allows you to be able to monitor day and night along with the ability to adjust the recording from five to 90 seconds before triggering. It can all be done even when you are not in the picture, so to speak.

Don’t be deceived. Whilst the camera may have a slight toy look to it and resembles something out of Star Wars, this stealth cam can be a powerful ally for anyone interested in wildlife as it can snap pictures using its sensors by detecting motion. These types of cameras are designed for wildlife enthusiasts who want pictures without the need to hold a camera in their hands. The camera can be positioned anywhere and will photo when it traces movement. If you want a still picture and proof of the time and date, this high-powered cam does that as well.

The camera also comes with night-vision, not totally surprising as some of the best pictures out in the wild are to be had in the night. The nighttime pics are probably the best using the 42 infrared emitters that will work great if you are within 50 feet of your target. Of course, this will probably be best by surveying where your target is likely to be so you can place the camera in range. The night-time pictures are deliverd in balck and white

Another good feature is its durability and that you can take photos even in the rain. Stealth Cam is the manufacturer of several game scouting cameras and are popular among nature photographers so you know the cam must be one of the best if the experts use them.

Last Macworld Expo 2009 by Apple

The latest news for us regarding Apple is that The Macworld Expo 2009 will be the Last One. This News may astonish Apple Fans as the Macworld Expo was a key feature of Apple to display and portry its products to the World.

If this was not enough another bad news comes for the Apple Fans, the last Macworld Expo won’t feature the traditional opening keynote by Steve Jobs. In his place Phill Schiller who is Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing will do the honors of the Opening keynote.

The Reasons Apple gave in its press release about why the Macworld Expo will be Fading into the dark is that Apple has found other means to communicate with its Users or should i say Apple has found other channels of communication and trade shows are just a minor part of it.

Steve Jobs the founder of Apple wont be with us in the last Macworld and without him it would really be a boring one unless Apples has something special for its users that will fullfil the gap that would be there without Steve Jobs.

For almost the whole Apple user community, one of the main attractions was the traditional keynote of Steve Jobs at Macworld but now with both gone, its going to be a very sad scenario.

Like a Child Needs it mother Apple as a child needs Steve Jobs.

Communication directly from our minds.

When we want to convey a message, we need to move our body, for example by speaking or by tapping a keyboard," said Yukiyasu Kamitani, the project's head researcher from the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International, a private institute based in Kyoto, Japan.

"But if we can get information directly from the brain, it will be possible to communicate directly by imagining what we want to say, without having to move," Kamitani said in a telephone interview with Reuters.

Such technology might one day open the way to communication for people who cannot speak or help visualize hallucinations to assist doctors diagnosing mental disorders, Kamitani added.

Basically through this technology scientiest were able to see things which a person had seen.

They conducted experiments on 400 volunteers and showed them geometric figures and then the computer afterwards was able to produce these images of the volunteers had seen

"In this experiment, we reconstructed images of what people actually saw, but the brain's visual cortex is said to be active even when just imagining something," Kamitani said.

The next step for the team is to study how to visualize images inside people's minds, he said.

"We want to know how our subjective experiences and dreams are expressed inside our brains," Kamitani said, adding that the study might lead to producing images of dreams.

If the team does manage that there were potential privacy issues and strong safeguards would be needed, he said.

"As accuracy rises, it is possible that information that people want to keep private could also be visualized while they are sleeping."

Now take a Chill in Dubai " A real Cold Chill "

Dubai is a hot Place for tourists, averaging 40C (104F) and often hitting 50C (122F) in summer. So can anyone image a cold beach with cold sands in Dubai ? Soheil Abedian founder of the hotel called Palazzo Versace has made nature to bend at our will.

He says “We will suck the heat out of the sand to keep it cool enough to lie on,”. “This is the kind of luxury that top people want.”

According to Times Online, Abedian is seriously planning ways to cool the sand to try and keep visitors from burning their feet:

The beach will have a network of pipes beneath the sand containing a coolant that will absorb heat from the surface.

The swimming pool will be refrigerated and there are also proposals to install giant blowers to waft a gentle breeze over the beach.

The scheme is likely to infuriate environmentalists.

I doubt it, nothing surprises environmentalists about Dubai any more. As Rachel Noble of Tourism Concern, a UK group that promotes sustainable tourism, told the Times:

“Dubai is like a bubble world where the things that are worrying the rest of the world, like climate change, are simply ignored so that people can continue their destructive lifestyles.”

Now this is kool Chilling a hot Dubai sounds Good even when writing about it. Dubai has really gone to the edge in developing different attractive Locations for tourist from around the world.

Palm Bring Nova A new Inovation

Palm is a company credited with the invention of the PDA and Handspring however Palm has not been so lucky in recent years and technology trends have been created elsewhere. Palm is now set to unveil a next-gen operating system, called Nova, which may become the foundation for new Palm handheld devices.

The new Linux based operating system, described by Palm as Palm 2.0, is believed to be positioned between the entertainment-focused iPhone and the business-centered BlackBerry - in a space where the company senses a technological gap. Palm’s concept is designed to appeal to a broader and more diverse customer base.

Currently, Palm uses its “old” Palm OS, also known as Garnet, as well as Windows Mobile for its handsets. The aging Palm OS has still its advantages such as ease of use and speed, but has a limited feature set. It doesn’t have support for high-speed networks and 3G technology. It was once believed that the remains of BeOS, a multimedia-oriented operating system Palm acquired in 2001 for $11 million, would enhance Palm OS, but those hopes never materialized.

Nova, Palm says, will be a “next-generation operating system with much more capabilities, driven around the Internet and Web-based applications” that is “going to be stunning and breakthrough in its execution.” Palm CEO Ed Colligan said that the company is working on “some very exciting new devices to go with it.”

Initially, Palm will have to work to make a comeback in the smartphone market, but the company is apparently hoping to hit a 2% share. In the end, the success will come down to the support of the platform by third-party developers. Ultimately, an operating system on any mobile device is only as great as the applications that it runs.

The upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is where Palm plans to launch a number of products based. It is expected that the company will show off its new operating system, a new user interface, and new hardware. Looking at recent ill-fated concepts such as the Foleo smartphone companion, and the critical financial situation of the company, the release of Nova could turn into a make or break event for the company.

Palm said that revenues for the quarter ended November 28 dropped about 40% year-over-year into the range of $190 to $195 million. The Centro smartphone, the company’s largest seller, has dropped dramatically in sales. Palm’s market capitalization is about $230 million

Palm has taken a wise setup to bring something new for its customers and it needs to bring something inovative in this era of competition. As we all know the current global situation people are now spending less and saving more and its hard to get customers to pay for a cellphone which has a old technology and is not competitive with other Devices available in the market. The New OS Fills the gap between the use of an Iphone and a Blackberry and this is somthing intresting and will exite people to know what the new OS by plam brings for its users
